Description

In this complicated day and age, clients do not fit neatly into one diagnostic category, rendering it imperative that we approach them in an integrative, collaborative manner. Psychotherapy, psychiatry, and admissions are being challenged to break down the historical silos and respect one another’s seat at the table. This presentation will explore the biases and therapeutic factors that often create barriers to the relationship between clinical/medical professionals and admission team members, and will offer practical tools to overcome these conflicts. The presenters will provide examples of a shared vision that incorporates common goals and creates winning organizational momentum. By using data and case studies, they will apply these concepts to broaden participants’ understanding of patients’ and colleagues’ goals in order to deliver better outcomes.

This session will describe an integrative model of care from a present day and historical standpoint. It will cover the biases and therapeutic factors that influence the ability to collaborate with colleagues, and participants will be able to develop tools for improving relationships with their colleagues utilizing conflict resolution. The presenters will identify and resolve common operational barriers to accessing care, present strategies to help your teams understand and accept that best outcomes and meeting budgetary (admission/average daily patient census) goals are not mutually exclusive, and introduce you to key facility data used to help identify and monitor gaps in the collaborative workflow.
